    US limits tanker air-defence cover in Hormuz to two daily time slots, FT reports

    The US has asked tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz to sail only at set times to be sure of military protection after Iran stepped up night attacks, the Financial Times reported. Air defence offered since May for ships hugging the Omani coast was cut to two daily time slots around the start of September, according to emails from the US naval coordination centre.

    Houthis take Perim Island and Yemen's entire Red Sea coast

    Houthi fighters swept south from Mocha through Dhubab and Murad, the last coastal town in government hands, and advanced onto Perim (Mayyun) Island at the mouth of the Bab al-Mandeb, Reuters reported citing four government sources. A government military official said 'everything that was under our control on the western coast has fallen.'

    Israel blows up Hezbollah tunnels under Ali al-Taher ridge with 1,100 tons of explosives

    The IDF said it used more than 1,100 tons of explosives to destroy two tunnels running over 2 km beneath the Ali al-Taher ridge near Nabatieh, which it called the nerve center of Hezbollah's Badr division; the USGS recorded the blast as a magnitude 4.1 tremor. Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said it completed Israel's security zone in southern Lebanon.

    Houthi missile and drone barrage on southern Saudi Arabia wounds 73, sets oil sites ablaze

    Houthi attacks early Tuesday hit 'civilian and economic facilities' in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, wounding 73 people including women and children, the Saudi-led coalition said. The Energy Ministry said fires broke out at several oil facilities and utilities and some operations were temporarily halted; the Houthis said they fired dozens of missiles and drones at Aramco sites in Najran and Abha, a Jazan industrial hub and King Khalid Air Base.

    Iran's Rezaei threatens Gulf-wide exclusion zone in answer to US economic war

    Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei wrote that 'economic warfare will be met by a maritime exclusion zone across the Persian Gulf to the blockade perimeter' and that Iran's posture toward US warships and bases had been 'fundamentally recalibrated.' He had announced plans for a restricted zone south of the Strait of Hormuz the day before.
