    A joint statement from Pakistan and Qatar after a 12-hour session said the sides formed a high-level committee with working groups on the nuclear file, sanctions, and monitoring and dispute resolution, agreed a roadmap to a final deal within 60 days, a communication line to avoid incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, and a de-confliction cell with Lebanon to ensure military operations there end.

    U.S.-Iran talks open at Buergenstock; Iran quits four-way format after Trump threat

    Vice President JD Vance and an Iranian delegation led by parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi began the first high-level round under the memorandum at the Buergenstock resort, with Pakistan's prime minister and Qatar's prime minister mediating.     Iran declares Hormuz closed over Israel's Lebanon strikes; CENTCOM says 55 ships crossed

    Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters said the Strait of Hormuz was closed to vessel traffic as a 'first step' in response to Israel's attacks in Lebanon, which it called a breach of the U.S.-Iran agreement, and the IRGC Navy warned ships not to approach. CENTCOM said 55 merchant ships carrying more than 17 million barrels of oil transited that day and that Iran does not control the strait.

    Israel and Hezbollah agree to a ceasefire after a day of deadly strikes

    A senior U.S. official said Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a ceasefire from 4 p.m. local time, worked out by U.S. and Qatari negotiators with help from Iran, and a senior Israeli official confirmed it. Lebanon's health ministry said Israeli strikes since midnight had killed 47 people in the south and the Bekaa, after four Israeli soldiers were killed in fighting in south Lebanon.

    Mojtaba Khamenei says he disagreed with the deal but approved it on Pezeshkian's commitment

    In a written statement, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said he had 'a different opinion' on the agreement but granted permission because President Pezeshkian gave commitments on safeguarding the rights of the Iranian nation and the 'resistance front' and explicitly accepted responsibility for it. He added that face-to-face talks with the U.S. would not mean accepting 'the enemy's position'.

    CENTCOM lifts the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports

    CENTCOM said U.S. forces had lifted the blockade on all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas 'in accordance with the President's direction', while U.S. warships stay in the region to ensure the agreement is adhered to. Vance said the 60-day negotiating period began that day and that 12.5 million barrels of oil had passed through Hormuz since the signing.

    Trump and Pezeshkian sign the U.S.-Iran memorandum electronically, and it takes effect

    Iran's foreign ministry and the White House confirmed that Presidents Trump and Pezeshkian had signed the memorandum electronically, Trump at the Palace of Versailles after the G7 and Pezeshkian in Tehran, so no signing ceremony would be held in Switzerland. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the mediator, said the 'Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding' entered into force with immediate effect, beginning with Iran reopening Hormuz and the U.S. lifting its naval blockade.
