After the U.S. strikes, Iran claimed missile and drone attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Oman, and the UAE said its air defences engaged Iranian missiles and drones. Qatar said falling debris wounded three people including a child, Oman said drones targeted sites in Musandam and summoned Iran's ambassador, and Kuwait later said three border centres and an offshore drilling platform were hit.

Why it matters

It was the widest Iranian retaliation since the memorandum, and Oman, Iran's partner in the Hormuz talks, summoned Iran's ambassador in protest.
