Drone hits container ship Ever Lovely off Oman, and the UN pauses Hormuz evacuations

The Evergreen container ship Ever Lovely was hit on the starboard side of its bridge 3.6 nautical miles off Oman's Khawr Naiwah after passing through Hormuz; its crew was unharmed and it continued. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez paused the UN plan to evacuate about 11,000 seafarers stranded in the Gulf, and Trump said the next day that Iran had launched four drones at ships, one of which hit.

Why it matters

It was the first attack on shipping blamed on Iran since the memorandum took effect, and it led to the first U.S. strikes on Iran under the deal.
