CENTCOM said strikes began at 8 p.m. ET as 'a powerful response' to Iran's missile attack and that the 'heavy wave' hit dozens of IRGC targets, including command centers, missile and drone facilities and coastal defenses. Iranian media reported explosions at Qeshm, Kish, Bandar Abbas, Abadan and Bushehr, and the IRGC said the strait would stay closed and 'the aggressor will be punished today.'
Why it matters
The IRGC then claimed it destroyed three F-35s in Jordan, which CENTCOM denied, saying no U.S. aircraft were damaged.
