US limits tanker air-defence cover in Hormuz to two daily time slots, FT reports

The US has asked tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz to sail only at set times to be sure of military protection after Iran stepped up night attacks, the Financial Times reported. Air defence offered since May for ships hugging the Omani coast was cut to two daily time slots around the start of September, according to emails from the US naval coordination centre.
Why it matters
Narrower protected windows force shipowners to schedule transits around US cover or sail without it, affecting routing and war-risk insurance.
