Hours after hosting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House, Trump said on Truth Social he was directing his administration to allow all U.S. airlines to fly directly to Lebanon, a service first suspended in 1985. At the meeting Trump said he would speak to Hezbollah if Aoun wanted him to, and Aoun pressed for continued U.S. support for the Lebanese army, which is meant to disarm the group.

Why it matters

The State Department's advice not to travel to Lebanon stayed in place, and the announcement did not address Hezbollah's disarmament or the pace of Israel's withdrawal from the south.
