Iran says U.S. hit Darkhovin nuclear plant site; IAEA sees no radiological risk

Iran's Atomic Energy Organization said multiple projectiles hit the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear power plant site in Khuzestan at 3:39 a.m. local time. The IAEA said it was looking into the reports, that the site was in the very early stages of construction and held no nuclear material when last visited, and that no radiological risk was expected.

Why it matters

It was the second nuclear site reported hit in the renewed fighting after Bushehr, and IAEA chief Rafael Grossi called for restraint near all nuclear-related sites; the same day Jordan said it shot down three Iranian missiles and the IRGC said it stopped ships on an 'unsafe route'.
