The House adopted Rep. Pramila Jayapal's resolution directing Trump to remove U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran without congressional authorization, with Republicans Tom Barrett, Brian Fitzpatrick, Warren Davidson and Thomas Massie voting yes. Later on Thursday the Senate voted 49-47 against advancing a similar Democratic resolution, so the measure cannot take effect.
Why it matters
The votes measure eroding support in Congress for the war but leave the administration's operations legally unchanged.
