The governor of Iran's Sirik county said a 150-ton locally owned cargo barge carrying essential goods from the Omani port of Khasab was hit by a U.S. projectile about 5 nautical miles off Khasab, and that all five crew were rescued by passing vessels and taken to Oman.

Why it matters

It was one of several incidents Iran cited as it declared Hormuz closed that morning; the U.S. did not confirm striking the barge.
