U.S. disables tanker Jalveer off Oman, the third blockade strike in a week

CENTCOM said a U.S. aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles into the engine room of the Guinea-Bissau-flagged tanker Jalveer after it tried to carry Iranian oil through the Gulf of Oman and its crew repeatedly ignored directions. India said all 20 Indian crew were safe after the ship sent a distress call off Oman's port of Shinas when fire broke out.
Why it matters
It was the third tanker with an Indian crew hit that week, after the Marivex and the Settebello, where three Indian seafarers were killed.
