Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan agreed to 'put aside the past' in talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, the highest-level Iran-UAE contact since the war began.
Why it matters
A thaw with the UAE, which Iran has attacked during the war, would split Gulf ranks as Bahrain refuses any meeting with Tehran.
