U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil exports came back into full effect on July 17, the date U.S. officials gave when Washington revoked the licence that had allowed Iranian oil sales under the memorandum.
Why it matters
The U.S. blockade of Iranian ports had already resumed on July 14, so Iran lost both the legal route and the physical route for its oil exports.
