U.S. and Iran hold indirect technical talks in Doha; Qatar reports 'positive progress'

Technical-level negotiations between Iran and the U.S. began in Doha with at least three working groups, on the nuclear issue, diplomacy, and the financing and return of frozen funds, and no face-to-face meetings between top officials. Qatar's foreign ministry said 'positive progress' was made and that the next meeting would be held after the funeral of Ali Khamenei.

It was the first negotiating round since the late-June exchange of strikes, and the pause for the funeral left the Hormuz and frozen-funds disputes open for another week.
