Pakistan says Iran will reopen the strait instantly

A day after the memorandum was signed, Pakistan, one of the two mediators, said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz instantly and that the U.S. naval blockade would end immediately.

Why this matters. It set the expectation that traffic would resume at once. Neither half of that promise held, and the gap between it and what followed is the clearest measure of how much the mediators oversold the deal.
