Israel Hands Over Final Four Lebanese Detainees to Lebanon via Red Cross

Israel released four more Lebanese civilian detainees on Friday morning, transferring them to the International Committee of the Red Cross at the Naqoura border crossing, which then handed them to the Lebanese army. AP journalists at a checkpoint south of Tyre saw the ICRC convoy make the crossing. The handover completes a five-detainee release that began Thursday with the transfer of Malek Ghazi, part of a U.S.-mediated deal in which Lebanon agreed to help locate the remains of Jewish Lebanese citizens missing since the country's civil war.

Why this matters. Completing this prisoner-for-remains exchange removes a recurring friction point between Israel and Lebanon and signals the U.S.-brokered de-escalation track is still functioning even as Israel presses its separate military campaign against Hezbollah in the south.
